Why Do We Need a Carp Mat?
With the evolution of fishing around the world and the implementation of the "catch and release" principle, which is now applied in various forms of sport fishing, it is most commonly associated with us carp anglers. It was they who first started fishing for carp for sport, with a concern for the best possible condition of the caught fish. An essential element that facilitates this is the use of a carp mat.
Carp mats vary in shape, size, and construction, but their common and most important function is to protect the caught fish.
Fish Protection:
The carp mat provides protection for the carp's skin and scales from damage while being removed from the water. It also protects the mucous layer that covers the fish's body and is important for its health.
Safety While on the Shore:
The carp mat allows the angler to handle the fish without the need to place it on the hard ground. We can safely release it from the hook, treat any potential puncture, and achieve what we aim for.
Easy Photography:
Carp anglers often want to capture the moment of the catch with a photograph. The carp mat provides an appropriate place to position the fish while taking pictures, minimizing its stress.
Types of carp mats can vary depending on the manufacturer, model, and features. Some mats are simple rectangular "cushions," while others may have special shapes, additional protective elements, or floating capabilities, allowing for photographing the fish in water. It is always advisable to follow the manufacturer's recommendations and care for the fish's safety while using a carp mat. The safety of the caught fish should always be our priority.
