Zig Bugs are floating carp baits. When fish are not feeding on the bottom but are moving in the water column or picking up food from the surface, instead of sitting idly and waiting for a miracle, let's try a different approach and present the bait where the fish are. Fishing in the water column with a Zig Rig setup is a much more active form of carp fishing than simply waiting for a bite. After casting the rig, leave it in place for 20-30 minutes; if nothing happens - change the depth at which the bait swims, switch the bait, or recast the rig. In Zig Rig fishing, the rule is - if nothing is happening - take action! Zig Bugs can be additionally flavored, but from experience, I know it's not necessary. The flies (Zig Bugs) mimic waterlogged pellets, insect eggs. Zig Bugs are tied to eyed hooks.
