Zig Bugs are floating carp flies. When fish are not feeding on the bottom but are moving in the water column or picking baits from the surface, instead of sitting idly by and waiting for a miracle, let's try a different approach and present the bait where the fish are. Fishing mid-water with a Zig Rig setup is a much more active form of carp fishing than the usual waiting for a bite. After casting the setup, we leave it in place for 20-30 minutes; if nothing happens - we change the depth at which the bait is swimming, switch the bait, or recast the setup. When fishing with a zig rig, the rule is: if nothing happens - take action! Zig Bugs can be additionally flavored, but from experience, I know it's not necessary. The flies (Zig Bugs) mimic soaked pellets, insect eggs. Zig Bugs are tied on eyed hooks.
