Zig Bugs are floating carp flies tied on shank hooks without the points. When fish are not feeding on the bottom but are moving in the water column or picking baits off the surface, instead of passively sitting and waiting for a miracle, let's try a different approach and present the bait where the fish are. Fishing in the water column with a Zig Rig setup is a much more active form of carp fishing than the usual waiting for a bite. After casting the setup, we leave it in place for 20-30 minutes. If nothing happens - we change the swimming depth of the bait, switch the bait or recast the setup. When fishing with a zig rig, the rule is: if nothing happens - take action! Zig Bugs can be additionally flavored, but from experience, I know that it is not necessary. The flies (Zig Bugs) mimic the insects that fish naturally feed on.
