Zig Bugs are floating carp flies. When fish are not feeding on the bottom but are moving in the water column or picking up baits from the surface, instead of sitting idly and waiting for a miracle, let's try a different approach and present the bait where the fish are. Fishing with a Zig Rig setup is a much more active form of carp fishing than simply waiting for a bite. After casting the rig, we leave it in place for 20-30 minutes; if nothing happens, we change the depth at which the bait swims, switch the bait, or recast the rig. When fishing with a Zig Rig, the rule is: if nothing's happening - take action! Zig Bugs can be additionally flavored, but from experience, I know that it's not necessary. The flies (Zig Bugs) imitate insects which fish naturally feed on. Zig Bugs are tied on eyed hooks.
