Zig Bugs are floating carp flies. When fish are not feeding on the bottom but are moving within the water column or picking up baits from the surface, instead of sitting idle and waiting for a miracle, let's try a different approach and present our bait where the fish are. Fishing in the water column with a Zig Rig setup is a much more active form of carp fishing than simply waiting for a bite. After casting the rig, leave it in place for 20-30 minutes; if nothing happens, change the swimming depth of the bait, change the bait, or recast the setup. With zig rig fishing, the rule is: if nothing is happening - take action! Zig Bugs can additionally be flavored, but from experience, I know that it is not necessary. These flies (Zig Bugs) mimic the insects which fish naturally feed on. Zig Bugs are tied on eyed hooks.
