Zig Bugs are floating carp flies. When the fish aren't feeding on the bottom but are moving through the water column or collecting baits from the surface, instead of sitting idly and waiting for a miracle, let's try a different approach and present the bait where the fish are. Fishing in mid-water with a Zig Rig setup is a much more active form of carp fishing compared to simply waiting for a bite. After casting the setup, we leave it in place for 20-30 minutes; if nothing happens - we change the depth at which the bait is floating, switch the bait, or recast the setup. When fishing with a zig rig, the rule is: if nothing happens - take action! Zig Bugs can be additionally flavored, but from experience, I know that it is not necessary. Flies (Zig Bugs) mimic the insects that fish naturally feed on. Zig Bugs are tied on hooks with an eye.
