Gardner Captive Backleads
Gardner Captive Backleads are professional weights designed to sink the main line, equipped with an eyelet for attaching a retrieval cord that allows for easy recovery after a bite. They are designed for carp anglers who want to effectively conceal the line from the view of cautious fish while not burdening it during the fight.
Once attached to the line, the weight slides along it towards the bottom, pulled by a cord or stiff line tied to the bank. After reaching the bottom, the weight is anchored there, and the main line remains completely pressed against the substrate. This solution provides maximum discretion for the end rig and full control over the line, without the risk of breaking it during the fight.
The fastening mechanism allows for adjusting the grip strength on the line by rotating the weight's body – simply turn it to the left to increase the grip strength. In case of a fish hook-up, the Captive Backlead automatically detaches and remains tied to the bank thanks to the retrieval cord.
