SPOMB Carp Rods
Carp rods - commonly referred to as "carp sticks" are characterized by specific features and construction. They are most often made of carbon fiber with a specific layout of line guides and a split handle that facilitates a secure grip during casting.
Length of rods - carp rods are usually made in 3 lengths expressed in English feet: 10' (3 m), 12' (3.6 m), and 13' (3.9 m). Shorter versions are intended for boat fishing, medium ones are the most common and versatile, whereas the longer rods are mainly designed for extremely distant casting.
Flexibility of rods - also known as the test curve is most often given on a scale from 2-3.5 lb, that is: 2.0; 2.75; 3.0; 3.25, and 3.5 lb. The higher the lb the stiffer the rod allowing for casting the set up over a greater distance. The lower the lb the more flexible the rod, providing more pleasure during the fight. High-quality rods allow combining both characteristics to achieve excellent casting parameters while maintaining the joy of the fight.
The most popular and versatile rods are 12' (3.60m) in length with a test curve of 3.0 lb.
