Avid Carp Carp Rods
Carp rods, colloquially referred to as "carp sticks," feature specific characteristics and construction. They are most often made of carbon fiber with a particular arrangement of line guides and a split handle that facilitates a secure grip during casting.
Length of rods - carp rods are most commonly crafted in 3 lengths, expressed in English feet: 10' (3 m), 12' (3.6m), and 13' (3.9m). Shorter versions are intended for boat fishing, medium lengths are the most common and versatile, while the longer rods are mainly designed for extremely distant casting.
Flexibility of rods - also known as the test curve, is most often given in the range of 2-3.5 lb, that is: 2.0; 2.75; 3.0; 3.25, and 3.5 lb. The higher the lb, the stiffer the rod allowing for the rig to be cast further distances. The lower the lb, the more flexible the rod, providing more pleasure during the fight. High-quality rods combine both features and achieve excellent casting parameters while retaining the joy of playing the fish.
The most popular and versatile rods are 12' (3.60m) in length with a test curve of 3.0 lb.
