Swingers and Hangers
Mechanical bite indicator - This type of indicator shows a bite through movement caused by the tensions in the main line that arise when a fish self-hooks on the terminal rig. Mechanical bite indicators not only signal line movement during a bite, but also enhance the signals of electronic indicators by bending the angle of the main line and effectively directing it towards the sensor of the electronic indicator regardless of the angle at which the rod is set.
Mechanical bite indicators - types
Swinger - It is characterized by a rigid arm that connects the indicator head to the support. This arm comes in various lengths and can be equipped with a sliding weight, allowing the tension of the line to be adjusted. This type of mechanical bite indicators is recommended for fishing spots with frequent windy conditions and performs much better at extremely long distances due to its rigidity.
Hanger - Features a flexible connection, often chain or cord, between the head and the support. Because of this type of connection, the head moves more freely along the line, making it significantly more sensitive to line tensions. Hangers are therefore an excellent choice when high precision is required, however, they are less stable in strong winds. They perform optimally at short to medium ranges.
On the market, you can also find hybrid solutions that combine features of both swingers and hangers.
A wide range of swingers and hangers from popular brands such as Nash, Fox, and Mivardi is available in our store!
