The innovative product that is the Magic Twig can definitely improve your current effectiveness in bite frequency and the number of fish successfully landed! Utilizing a spring-loaded mechanism during a bite, upon encountering sufficient resistance, it triggers and "sets the hook" into the fish. This action significantly reduces the number of dropped/spat baits by the carp immediately after suction. The Heavy model has a strength of 8.5oz. (241g), which means it requires such a weight* to trigger the system during a bite. The Heavy model has the strongest spring, resulting in a firm and sure hook set, which is why we recommend using it in waters where fish, due to the type of natural food they consume, have hard mouths. This model is also the best choice for distance casting with the use of large leads and for fishing in waters with a significant presence of crayfish, birds, or coarse fish, which increases the risk of the mechanism being "disarmed." The Magic Twig is attached to the secure One More Cast Vitabitz Lead Clip or to many commercially available clips using size 8 swivels. The other end of the Magic Twig has a solidly anchored swivel with a Quick Change (QC) connector to which we attach the rig. After properly securing the Magic Twig, it should be "armed" and then it's advisable to protect the mechanism from unintentional "disarming" during casting or laying out the setup from a distance using PVA tape or thread. It's worth noting that the system also aids us during the fight. The internal spring that triggers the hook set, upon being disarmed, acts like a shock absorber, maintaining flexibility, and making it harder for the fish to shake the hook from its mouth during the fight.

* The strength of 8.5oz. (241g) does not mean that the mechanism should only be used with a lead of that weight. Considering other forces present during a take (overloads caused by the fish's quick head jerk, suction of the lead into the silt, etc.), the heavy version can be effectively used with leads of lower or higher weight. When selecting the right Magic Twig, you should also consider the possibility of the mechanism being "disarmed" in the venue, for example by coarse fish, waterfowl, or crayfish.
